This position will play a very important role in Oportun’s Personal Loans business management (P&L). The Senior Analyst, reporting to the Director / Sr Manager, will help support the Personal Loan GM in managing the P&L of the business. This role will build and maintain business health dashboard/analytics, monitor cross-team KPIs, and be the SME of our business health. In addition, the role will also bring in new ideas/analytics from eclectic sources (competitive, economic, and industry, etc) for benchmarking and forecasting future opportunities. A successful candidate will have the opportunity to influence the company’s growth by guiding decisions through data insights, and the monitoring of all aspects relating to business’ P&L. Environment will be fast paced, requiring the candidate to adjust quickly for business needs while delivering on high-impact work regularly.


  • Use data and analytics to deliver insights on the personal loan business health
  • Collaborate with large and diverse teams across multiple disciplines (Financial Planning & Analytics, Risk, Marketing, Operations, Product, etc)
  • Consolidate intra-department reporting by finding synergies within efforts
  • Program manage and support multiple strategic initiatives by developing key milestones, KPIs/scorecards, progress/issue trackers and reporting to leadership
  • Establish and maintain strong partnerships with external research/data vendors in order to build out market/competitive intelligence/analytics
  • Lead research initiatives (internal & external) to develop business benchmarking capabilities
  • Develop ad hoc business strategy and process optimization projects to better understand customer/channel behaviors with structured analysis and present findings to senior leaderships
  • Ensure all analyses tell an appropriate story which enables insights and creates a path for action
  • Become established as a recognized SME for analytics and serve as a resource to the business, facilitating knowledge transfer and overseeing application of continuous improvement methodology and tools



  • B.S. or M.S. in business-related or quantitative field (Economics, Finance, Math, Engineering, or similar discipline)
  • 3+ years of experience in analytics or business strategy
  • SQL (in-depth querying); Tableau, PowerBI, SAS and Python are a plus
  • Ability to understand standard financial terms (e.g. understands NPV, LTV, ROE, etc.)
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills with clearly demonstrated results
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint Skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical personnel
  • Detail and results oriented, absolute self-starter and strategic thinker
