This position will play a very important part in driving Oportun’s 50 state strategy with in-depth analytics. A successful Sr Analyst in this role will be able to leverage advanced analytics to deliver an optimal design of the footprint. This position will get high visibility from senior levels of the company and will require influencing skills to drive the recommendations drawn from the analytics.  A successful candidate will have the opportunity to influence the company’s growth by guiding decisions through data insights, and the monitoring of our current footprint and customer trends. Environment will be fast paced, requiring the candidate to adjust quickly for business needs while delivering on high-impact work regularly.


  • Use data and analytics to deliver insights to drive business expansion
  • Analyze and monitor the financial performance of our stores to uncover improvement/optimization opportunities
  • Lead the re-design of our footprint, which includes the test of new store formats/configurations to maximize customer reach while minimizing store redundancy
  • Own and maintain the team’s optimization platform: Models, tools and databases required to provide market optimization insights
  • Analyze and evaluate the impact of potential partnerships on our current footprint
  • Lead the implementation of the initiatives designed by our team
  • Work closely with leaders across the organization to figure out the scope and breadth of the business questions at hand
  • Ensure all analyses tell an appropriate story which enables insights and creates a path for action


  • B.S. or M.S. in business-related or quantitative field (Economics, Finance, Math, Engineering, or similar discipline)
  • 3+ years of experience in analytics or business strategy
  • SQL (in-depth querying); SAS and Python are a plus
  • Ability to understand standard financial terms (e.g. understands NPV, LTV, ROE, etc.)
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills with clearly demonstrated results
  • Advanced knowledge of Statistical Methods for model building
  • Advanced data visualization skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint Skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical personnel
  • Detail and results oriented, absolute self-starter and strategic thinker
