Overview

This role will sit with a team in the middle of the Oportun customers, business teams and engineering teams, that has responsibility of identifying and addressing issues (technology, process, training, etc.) that are preventing our agents or customers from being able to successfully apply for, or service, various financial products.  As well as helping coordinate that effort, this role will also take ownership of the team’s responses to internal and external audits, and identify ways to improve to team processes and procedures, including the audit response process itself.

Responsibilities

  • Become a subject matter expert in all aspects of the Oportun business of acquiring and serving financial product customers in order to properly analyze and support those areas: leads, origination, underwriting, risk, disbursement, payments, collections, reporting, etc.
  • Map business process flows to system/data flows and other related documentation needs
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in the end-to-end process by looking at various data sources (business metrics, customer metrics, etc.)
  • Collaborate and coordinate with members of product development teams (Developers, Quality Engineers, Dev Ops, Technical Product Managers), business teams (Compliance, Legal, Risk, Ops Managers, Call Center Agents, Store Agents, etc..) and Customers, to identify the impact, root causes and solutions of major issues or improvements needed
  • Identify opportunities to build new tools to enable internal teams to perform better (faster, more efficiently, etc.)
  • Work with business process owners on controls documentation, review, testing and remediation
  • Perform and document walkthroughs of various business controls
  • Track and facilitate audit finding responses, root cause analysis, and corrective action plans

Qualifications

  • 6+ years working as a business analyst or other relevant experience
  • Experience analyzing customer and business data to identify key performance indicators and/or improvements pertaining to customer experience, operations, risk, finance, compliance or process controls
  • Experience with internal/external audits, internal controls management and SOX
  • Significant experience writing SQL queries
  • Experience with scheduled jobs and job failure monitoring
  • Experience reading logs and/or using an aggregator like Sumologic
  • Advantage/Good to have an understanding of modern architecture design principles and technologies, covering all layers of the development and infrastructure stack in order to work with developers on the design and build of features
  • AdvantageGood to have a working knowledge of debug tools and query languages to support technical products in production (SQL, MongoDB, Inspector) and ability to understand APIs and troubleshoot technical issues
  • Understanding of financial systems and/or terms, preferably loans or similar products
  • Strong written and verbal communication
